Walsh’s newest world premiere creation reaches out to the culture and people of Japan. Featuring taiko drummer Kensaku Satou, described as powerful as a drago, limber as a dancer, spiritual as a priest, creating incomparably explosive beats with his drumming and world-renowned dancers Hana Sakai, Japan’s premiere ballet dancer, known for her elegant, expressive and refined performances and Domenico Luciano, a mighty presence, evoking an animal energy complimented with grace and stealth. Together this trio will raise their collective voices as artists, performing as a cohesive rhythmic unit, capturing the traditions of Japan while taking the viewer into a sensory feast of sound, vibration and visually stunning imanages through contemporary movement.

Set to Cuban music from the 1940’s, The Whistling choreographed by Dominic Walsh, is a fun, light-hearted ensemble performance. With its fluid, yet athletic movements, The Whistling was voted as the audience favorite at the American Idol-style 2010 New American Talent/Dance choreographic competition hosted by Ballet Austin.

The Sarasota Ballet will perform a revival of Walsh’s I Napoletani, set to traditional Neapolitan folk music. Walsh’s affiliation with the Sarasota Ballet began in 2007 and this marks the sixth consecutive season they will be performing Walsh’s works.
